We'd heard lots about a Norwich based four piece punk rock band called Ducking Punches but have never had the pleasure of seeing them live. We heard (via Lorna from Skinny Lister) that they were playing at this year's Beautiful Days Festival and thought we'd best have a chat to see what all the fuss is about. We caught up with Dan from the band to chat about his best festival survival tips, what to expect from their live show and WHY you should do your utmost to catch them when they play at Beautiful Days....
Firstly, for those people who aren’t familiar with your band, please tell us a bit about yourselves….
We’re a DIY or die punk rock band.
I’ve looked back over all of the bands that we’ve covered in the past 10 years and I cannot see that we’ve had the pleasure of seeing you live, what can I expect from your show?
Honest, punk rock. Tons of Fun Fun Fun.
Standing in a field watching bands has become a popular pastime for us Brits, what do you think it is about music festivals that appeals to so many people?
The collective unity you feel at a festival, seeing a bunch of your favourite bands with your favourite people. I’ve made memories I’ll never forget at festivals over the last six years.
It can often be a battle getting through 3 days at a music festival, please share your top three survival tips
What is your preferred tipple at a festival?
Pfeffi (mint liquor) or whiskey, it hurts like hell but it’s worth it!
And best hangover cure?
Usually just a bunch of sleep, always best to be Out for the count.
You’re playing at Beautiful Days this year, which of the other acts are you hoping to catch whilst you’re there?
We’ve had some stunningly good weather in the UK over the past 6 weeks, please predict the forecast for Beautiful Days
I love blistering heat but we played a show recently that was ridiculously hot. Man, I was uncomfortable.
Where can people keep up to date with you?
Lastly, please tell me WHY people should come and see you when you perform at Beautiful Days?
Well, it’s been a bad few weeks and it’d be amazing to have a banging show so we can feel like We’re marching amongst giants.
We'd like to thank Dan for taking time out of his no doubt hectic schedule to chat to us and we wish the band every success for the future and we look forward to catching them on the main stage at Beautiful Days next weekend!
