The Cabarats bring a new musical experience to the Southwest, combining traditional Balkan and Middle Eastern sounds with lively reggae and ska. Using an eclectic collection of intriguing instrumental performances from Dan Lotoczko on the accordion and keys and Leo James on the Oud, Flugelhorn, Guitar and Clarinet. The rhythm section consists of Jake Leonard-Williams and Rich Palmer who provide the gentle background for the distinctive instruments to develop a stunning palette of sound which is completed by the cheeky, crystal clear voice of Shelley Polaine.

This was going to be the first time I had seen Arrested Development, so I went to tonight’s show at Exeter’s Phoenix a little sceptical as to the outcome. For me, they were renowned for a couple of tracks in the early 90’s, mainly Everyday People and Mr Wendel, I’ll admit now that I was unfamiliar with any of their other material and was alarmed to find out that they have released 12 albums since 1992! Armed with this information, I took my seat on the balcony and waited for the evening to unfold….
“I wake up every morning and say this is fucking crazy”, commented the North Shields artist Sam Fender, bringing his socially aware lyrics combined with his rock and roll guitar riffs to a packed out Thekla in the heart of Bristol. With just a year in the limelight, Fender’s music career has gained momentum at a RAPID rate. Feeling trapped in his home town, he turned to his guitar for a chance to escape, now he writes songs about ‘life on the fringes’ and raises questions about current social issues.
As Ramblin’ Rose screeches to its triumphant conclusion, Marcus & Wayne take great joy in informing the Bristol crowd that it is now time to… “Kick Out The Jams Motherfuckers!” The audience erupts once more and the front rows are bouncing to the visible delight of Wayne.
Cancer has returned! The UK Death Metal band has graced us with their sixth full length album Shadow Gripped. The band have been going strong for 30 years and for this album, all three core members have returned to deliver the classic death metal sound they are renowned for. The 10 track LP also features guitarist Anders Nyström of Bloodbath & Katatonia, whom was clearly excited to participate in the return of the magnificent ‘gorefest’ that is Shadow Gripped.
The band will also be attending the Damnation Festival, amongst some real heavy hitters such as Napalm Death and Ihsahn, and are quite excited to be a part of the festivities.

The influences of DJ Crimson Death are clear from his first line, with a voice sounding quite similar to Hoest of Norwegian Black Metal act ‘Taake’. As he bellows lyrics like, "Together we will fade away and you shall be reborn..", he not only channels Black Metal but delivers the lyrics with a vocal rap-like pace, creating a mood where you don't know whether to bob or bang your head and throw up your metal horns!!
Having spent the last four years honing their craft, everything you think you know about them and their unique surrealist world is about to be wonderfully shaken up as they prepare to release their hugely anticipated self-titled debut album. It’s an album that celebrates being human, in all its different forms and by doing so, will touch the hearts of everyone that hears it.
