Acquaintance is Chris Griffin, a UK-based producer who creates infectious pop songs with clever lyrics and irresistible Balearic synths riffs.
Griffin is a co-founder of the Anti-Ghost Moon Ray collective that includes Gazelle Twin, Great Pagans and Bernholz. ‘Telepathic’ is the lead single taken from Acquaintance's forthcoming ‘Parapsychology’ EP, which will be released on November 4th via Anti-Ghost Moon Ray Records. The video is directed by BAFTA nominated film-maker Joe Tunmer, whose past music video credits include Findlay Brown, Brakes & Frightened Rabbit.
Acquaintance’s influences are drawn from a range of electronic styles, particularly 80s pop, classic house, 90s R&B, and ambient. Fans of Junior Boys, Caribou, Pet Shop Boys, How to Dress Well, and The Knife will be excited to discover this new artist.
The debut album by Acquaintance is ‘Satellite Stream’, an ambitious and engaging sequence of nine conceptually related songs. It will be released on Anti-Ghost Moon Ray Records in early 2014.
